Happy New Year

Author: ve1jax (Site Admin)

Well it’s another year and the beginning of a brand new decade! With the weather outside today (January 2, 2010) being so blustery it’s a perfect opportunity to up–date the new website. I’ve added a few new plug-ins and updated the database to the latest version of Word Press (2.9).

For some of who are using the Internet Explorer version 8 you may be having log-in issues because of the new security settings from Microsoft. You may have to add ve1yar.com to the trusted sites located in the security section of the tools menu.

Another feature you may not be aware of is: Turbo: Speed for ve1yar.com

The ve1yar website now has support for Gears, which adds new features to your web browser. Please click here for More information… on using gears.

After you install and enable Gears, most of ve1yar’s images, scripts, and CSS files will be stored locally on your computer. This speeds up page load time.

Please DO NOT install gears on a public or shared computer.  A special thank you to the members of the ve1yar club who already have contributed to the website.

Please report any issues or if you have any difficulty using this site please contact me ve1jax@rac.ca

Poll Question

Author: ve1jax (Site Admin)

It was mentioned at one of the meetings or get togethers that the Yarmouth Amateur Radio Club could also have a forum style website like  Ham Radio Forum  or  any of these .  If so,  I’d like to hear from you.  We could have a forum as well as this site.  It’s up to you?  Here are a couple links to the software we could use.  Simple Machines  or Dragon Fly   both could work using the SQL databases supplied on my hosting.   There is just one catch though….  I wouldn’t mind building or setting up  the forum as long as another club member manages it.
