Field Day 2010

Author: ve1sol

This year, my plan is to operate from Copper Mountain in Quebec. This is located near Murdochville. Have Dipoles made up for 20 M and 80 M bands so far and as long as the weather holds up and all goes according to plans, I will be on the air from that location. Hope to hear many hams on the air. Has been raining off and on all morning, but looks like it may clear some. Going to try to set up at the Turbine 16 location, a nice high elevation. Was just up in that area working and one the way back we came upon a bear cub crossing the road…. hopefully they keep moving but I will keep an eye open for various signs of wildlife while at the location.

Update: Made it there but far to windy do do much at all. The noise was S9 almost all the time so any signals I did hear were extremely hard to copy. I put on the Noise Blanker and Attenuator and that helped drop the noise but it also dropped the signal. I seen a very dark cloud heading my way and decided it was time to pick up and leave, just had everything in the truck when the rain started again. It was still fun, an experience for sure. Next Field Day, I will make a few changes and see how things go. Pictures will follow later. VE1SOL
